How to Install — 4 Steps
Brake and suspension install is straightforward. Here's what you need to know before you start.
Bed in your brake pads first
Before full riding, bed in pads by applying light pressure for 20 stops from 30mph. This heat-cycling ensures even pad contact and optimal stopping power. Skip this and you'll get uneven wear and squeal.
Check rotor runout before mounting
Mount the rotor and spin by hand before bolting the caliper. Use a dial indicator to check runout — if it exceeds 0.1mm, loosen and re-center the rotor on the hub. A warped rotor feels like a pulsing lever.
Set suspension preload for your weight
Use the preload adjuster knob to set sag. Without a paddock stand, push down hard 3 times then measure the gap between the tire and fender — 30–40mm is the target range. Heavier riders need more preload. Adjust until the fork compresses 25–30% under your riding weight.
Bleed brake lines properly
Attach braided lines to caliper first, then master cylinder. Use a clear bleed hose — bubble-free flow means no air. Pump slowly: compress lever, close bleed screw, release lever, open screw, repeat. Air in the line gives a spongy lever feel.
Tools you'll need
- Torque wrench (for caliper bolts — check spec sheet for Nm)
- Allen keys (front and rear axle)
- Paddock stand or rear stand for suspension preload
- Dial indicator or runout gauge for rotor check
- Clear brake bleed hose and DOT 4 brake fluid
- Zip-ties for routing brake lines cleanly
Need the harness first?
Brakes and suspension work with the electrical system. Start with the 6-circuit harness if you're wiring in LEDs too.
